GI Joe's Russian Soldier

Contrary to what some may believe, despite the fact that the United States was at the height of the Cold War in 1968, the Russian Soldier who was part of the GI Joe Toy line was NOT an enemy. In fact, he was a FRIEND to GI Joe. Now, you may ask how this could happen in the late 1960's. The answer is pretty simple: the Russian Soldier was a RETRO Russian Soldier from World War II when the Soviets and the United States were allies. The release of the Russian Soldier was part of GI Joe's Soldiers of the World Series and included French, Japanese, German, Russian, French, British and Australian soldiers. Ok, the French Soldier really wasn't a soldier per se. He was a resistance fighter and the French Resistance did not have a uniform. So, the French fighter doll didn't sell. Now, it is worth well over $2,000.00

I am not sure what the Russian Soldier is worth, but it is way up there as well. Kids really weren't interested in a soldier doll that wasn't an American soldier so the Russian doll didn't sell well either. So, for nostaligia fans, here is a reproduction of the Russian soldier.
